Darryl Hughes - present owner
Darryl was born and brought up in North Wales and educated at Colwyn Bay Grammar School and Manchester University. His early career was in production planning and finance moving into general management in his early thirties. Whilst working for Racal Electronics he came into contact with the world of marine electronics and experienced first hand the transition from the Decca Navigator System to the Global Positioning System (GPS). His active interest in sailing dates from this time. His first boat was Lustre, a 22' Audacity made of cold moulded marine ply. From there he graduated to Aiokee - a classic Nicholson 32.
Darryl first clapped eyes on Maybird in 1990 in New Zealand's Bay of Islands and never fully recovered!
